Registration & Membership
Why do I have to register?
Showsharers is a professional online community. As such we only want to promote legitimate, reputable companies and contractors to our site users, and by registering with us we can verify that you are such a company or individual. We will also monitor members' contacts and referrals from the site to ensure that high standards of professional conduct and service are maintained.
Can I change or update my info after I've registered?
- Yes. Log in and select 'my profile' from the links on the left.
- Click the 'edit' icon to the right of the information you want to change.
- Once you've made the change, click the 'save' icon or in the case of services & locations click the submit button.
Noticeboards & Postings
The trade, service, location or venue I require doesn't appear in the selection menus.
- Firstly, please make sure that it isn't listed using a slightly different description (trades & services) or spelling (location names).
- If you still can't find an item, you can submit it for addition to the Showsharers website by clicking on the buttons on the top right of the screen.
- Showsharers will review you submission as quickly as possible (usually within a few hours) and contact you to let you know if your submission has been added, or our reasons if it is not to be added.
- In some cases we may have to contact the venue owner or event organiser before the item can be added.
I can't see my item on the Noticeboard
- Make sure its not on the other board - did you enter it as a 'wanted' posting when it should be 'offered' or vice versa?
- Sort the noticeboard list by a different category. Noticeboards are organised by key date unless you choose to view it by event or location. If your key date is a long way off, it could be further down the list. But don't worry that users won't see it - it will appear in any appropriate search results.
- If you still cant see it, email us on editor@showsharers.co.uk with your company name, membership no. and the date you added the posting.
Can I change my posting once its on the noticeboards?
- Yes. Login and click on the 'my postings' link. On this screen you can see a list of your postings.
- Click the 'edit' icon next to the posting you wish to change, update it, and click submit
Do I have to put a separate posting in for every service I'm offering?
- No! You can use the buttons below the description box to repeat your entry, and only update the service.
Do I have to put a separate posting in for every location I operate at?
- No! You can use the buttons below the description box to repeat your entry, and only update the location.
Can I save items which interest me, to review later?
- Yes - click on the clipboard icon to the right of the item. A link will be added to your clipboard so you'll have a shortcut to it in the future.
Is there anything I can't put on the noticeboards?
You may not post any content which;
- Includes libellous, or defamatory content or references.
- Violates copyright or intellectual property rights.
- Promotes, contains or links to sexually explicit materials or products.
- Promotes violence of any kind.
- Promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or age or promotes illegal activities.
What happens if I feel that something on the noticeboards is defamatory, offensive or otherwise unsuitable?
- You should report it to us at once via email to misuse@showsharers.co.uk. We check noticeboard content frequently, but in order to give our members flexibility and control of the Showsharers community we do allow considerable freedom in the content of postings.
- Please Be Aware that Showsharers Ltd can accept no liability for any offence or upset caused by its members' postings on the www.showsharers.co.uk website.
What will happen if unsuitable content appears on the noticeboards?
- The related membership will be immediately suspended and the profile and postings will no longer be visible to users of the site.
- In addition the posting member may be reported to the Police or other relevant body depending on the nature of the content.
Searching
My search returned no results
- Try making your search a little broader - leave any less essential criteria boxes empty.
- If you still get no results, post a notice on the Wanted board.
My search returned lots of results - can I save them to review later?
- Yes - click the 'save page to clipboard' link on the top right of the screen, and the entire list will be added to your clipboard.
What's the difference between search results from the noticeboards and from the members' database?
- Search results from the noticeboards are most likely to be an exact match for the search criteria you entered.
- Search results from the members' database are links to members who offer the services you need or operate in the locations you specify - but not necessarily on the dates you specify. You may still find it useful to contact them.
- Search results from local knowledge are simply links to information about the location you've specified, which you may find useful.
Local Knowledge
I can't see any local knowledge on the place I'm interested in.
- This means that no Showsharers member has added anything about that particular place yet.
- 1. Try posting a notice on the Wanted noticeboard asking for information or advice about the location.
- 2. Use the search window to see if any members are based there, or have listed it as one of their key locations.
- If you still find nothing, contact us and we'll let you know as soon as any information about that location comes on to the site.
Event Listings
I can't see a particular event that I'm interested in.
- Showsharers admin team enter a wide cross-section of events as we are informed of them, however if a particular event doesn't seem to be shown you can submit it using the link on the top right of the page.
Making contact
How will I know when someone is interested in my posting or my services or location knowledge?
- You'll receive an email at the email address you specified in your profile, with details of how to get in touch with the interested party.
How do I get in touch about a notice that interests me?
- Click the 'respond' icon next to the entry. Fill in your preferred contact info and a short message if you wish. When you click submit a message is sent to the relevant Showsharers member, who will then contact you via the phone no or email address you specified.
Can I find out more about the company that has posted a particular item?
- Yes. Click the 'info' icon beside the posting or search result link. You will then be able to see the members main profile information.
